Rare Pontiacs in Cup, Paul Gentilozzi

07/01/2019 – Paul Gentilozzi is a 5-time Champion and 31-time Winner (all-time leader) in the Trans-Am series who, among his many motorsports ventures as both an owner and a driver, tried his hand at NASCAR on only one occasion – the 1999 Frontier at the Glen at Watkins Glen.

Driving the #19 Pontiac Grand Prix owned by Kurt Roehrig and sponsored by HomeLink, Gentilozzi failed to qualify as he posted the 46th fastest time out of 49 qualifiers for the then-Cup standard field of 43.

Roehrig’s Pontiac did actually hit the track earlier in the 1999 Cup season as road racing ace Tom Hubert qualified the Grand Prix – sponsored by Bradford White – for the 1999 Save Mart/Kragen 350 at Sears Point finishing 33rd after qualifying 30th.
